Opening Event, Friday January 21st at 6.30pm. Jerwood Contemporary Makers takes a fresh and unexpected look at work by a new generation of makers, bringing together a broad range of work from across craft and the visual arts.

This year’s exhibition will explore the notion of making from a variety of creative perspectives. Selectors Hans Stofer, Richard Slee and Freddie Robins – three of the most inventive names in the visual arts - have chosen 29 makers to take part.

Ireland’s Top Creative Talent Set For Showcase 2011

Largest international fair in Ireland opens January 23 with buyers from over 17 countries expected for “Ireland’s Creative Expo”. More than €22 million in sales orders are expected over the four days of Showcase 2011, ‘Ireland’s Creative Expo’ which takes place at the RDS in Dublin later this month.

350 of the country’s leading designers, manufacturers and craftspeople will be taking part in the most important sales event of the year from Sunday 23rd to Wednesday 26th January.

Showcase will attract more than 5,500 retail buyers from Ireland and over 17 countries around the world including North America, continental Europe and Japan, who are seeking out the best of Irish fashion, jewellery, giftware and interiors products.

An exciting programme of events unveiled for Year of Craft 2011.

Major initiative to support craft on the island of Ireland announced: The vibrant crafts industry on the island of Ireland is to be celebrated and promoted next year through a wide-ranging calendar of events marking Year of Craft 2011.

The Crafts Council of Ireland (CCoI) and Craft Northern Ireland (Craft NI) have designated 2011 as Year of Craft. The year marks the 40th anniversary of the Crafts Council of Ireland and will be celebrated through a diverse range of dynamic events and programmes at home and abroad to showcase the very best of craft made on the island of Ireland.
