The Irish Craft Studio Experience aims to promote Ireland’s best studio experiences.

Featured sites are either craft studios open to visitors on a full-time basis or craft galleries and retail spaces offering visitors the opportunity to meet or interact with the maker.

If you fulfill the following criteria, you are eligible to be assessed for this.

  1. You are either:
    - A studio/workshop producing craft
    - A craft gallery/retail space with opportunities to meet the maker – eg. the makers of the craft work in the gallery/shop also work in the gallery/shop or you provide opportunities/workshops/events where visitors can see work being made, meet the maker or have a go at making something.
  2. You must be open full-time to the public. Our minimum opening times requirement are 35 hours per business week, May – September inclusive.
  3. You must have a website, blog or Facebook Business Page which clearly states your business name and opening hours.
  4. You must be a member of the Design & Crafts Council of Ireland. See current registration criteria and information here.

Assessments take place at various intervals throughout the year depending on demand. Successful applicants are those who offer a quality experience to visitors.

A quality experience is determined by a number of factors:

  • Is the studio/workshop/gallery welcoming to visitors?
  • Is this a good craft experience for visitors?
  • Is the customer service good?
  • Is the majority of craft work on sale made in Ireland and of a high standard?
