Reactive Dyes and Discharge Printing

Experiment with printing pastes and create samples on a variety of lightweight fabrics

Reactive dyes are suitable for use with sheer or lightweight fashion fabrics as no residue is left behind that can change the handle of more delicate fabrics. In this session you will experiment with printing pastes and create samples on a variety of lightweight fabrics. Discharge printing bleaches out a lighter image on a darker coloured ground and replaces with another colour. Using different dyed coloured grounds or existing prints: learn how discharge printing can achieve light or bright colours on dark backgrounds, creating striking and unusual results. A basic supply of materials is included in fee.
