Monotype Printmaking: Colour and Place

Classes & Workshops available include tuition, food & accommodation with private bedroom. Workshops for seven days, arrival and departure making it nine days.

This workshop explores the exciting possibilities of two-plate monotype printmaking. Through a series of steps the participants are thoughtfully guided through the processes needed to create rich, unique images in the same way that Degas created his ‘painterly prints’. This method allows for great contrast between darkness and light as well as allowing the artist to create images where broad sweeping gestures and fine details are captured in the final prints. The workshop is particularly suited to exploring a ‘sense of place’ and capturing the wild natural surroundings of Ballycastle. Participants are encouraged to work en plein air and the class is appropriate to artists in all stages of their development. Consideration and flexibility are the keystones of the workshop teaching.

This Workshop takes place from the 29th August - 6th September 2019. The cost is $1,700 which includes tuition, shared cottage with private bedroom for 8 nights, lunch/dinner/dessert/tea/coffee, collection/delivery to the bus/train stations in Ballina, full use of the Ballinglen Library & facilities 24/7. Participants arrive on the 29th and depart on the 6th (The workshop is for seven days with arrival and departure day making it nine days). Please contact Una Forde on for availability and booking form.
