Free craft workshops on Culture Night to mark Year of Craft 2011

To celebrate Year of Craft 2011 on Culture Night, several craft organisations are running free craft workshops in their workshops/venues.

Opening times – 15.00 – 20.00, Friday 23rd September

Open studio - members’ work and working spaces on display. To give people the opportunity to see members’ work and working methods and to talk to the artists, to give an understanding of what goes on in Workhouse Studios and what a craft practice involves.Tea, coffee and biscuits offered.

Drop in workshop with Laura McNamara and Adele Stanley – Waterford’s textures
Clay tiles inspired by Kilmacthomas and County Waterford - Inspiration is to be found in the architecture of the workhouse, the surrounding landscape, plants and foliage, and maps of the region. We will provide a clay tile, tools, images of the landscape, maps of the locality and plants to work with. After the workshop we will fire the tiles and participants can come back to collect their finished piece.
