Irish and International Exhibition of Calligraphy and Letter Arts
Exhibition of calligraphy and the letter arts with work from some of the finest Irish and international calligraphic artists plus demonstrations and information.
To celebrate the Year of Craft, Peannairi: Irish Scribes Workshop are organising a major Calligraphic Exhibition to take place in Dublin from 7th to 15th June. The principal objective is to raise the profile of calligraphy as a viable craft and art in Ireland and to attract younger practitioners to the letter arts. To that end, coinciding with the exhibition, they are organising workshops for secondary school pupils preparing portfolios for entrance to art college. Visits and study sessions will be an integral part of the workshops. They will also involve teachers of art and craft along with third level art and design institutions, so that young artists can become more aware of the contemporary range of the letter arts. The cream of Irish and international calligraphic artists have agreed to participate in the exhibition.
